Spertus to launch MA in Jewish Professional Studies
This is an interesting development. Instead of a degree from a “Jewish Studies Department” or an MSW, now people who want to work in eternal servitude of their people (you fools! don’t do it!) with an accompanying eternal lack of thanks can learn how to do it! Spertus’ new MA looks pretty cool, actually, capitalizing on their already impressive MA in Non-Profit Management:
The program will combine grounding in classical and contemporary Jewish knowledge with professional training based in the best practices in nonprofit management in three components: Jewish Studies, Jewish Professional Proficiencies, and Individuation (personal mentoring and study). The program, directed by Dr. Barry Chazan, who has taught at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at major universities in North America, will utilize the expertise of Spertus resident faculty plus other distinguished specialists and experienced Jewish communal professionals. The program is unique in that it is one of the few targeted to communal professionals already in the field who want to improve their skills and capabilities.
Maybe I should do that…
