Gilad Schalit Alive, Speaks

Posted on Monday 25 June 2007

(photo reuters)  We’re coming up on a year since the illegal capture kidnapping of Cpl. Gilad Schalit by Palestinian terrorists on sovereign Israeli soil.

In the wake of the madness that ensued over the last two weeks in Gaza, Hamas has faced near complete rebuke by the international community for its  Coup attempt.  In rather cynical response, Hamas said it would work to free Schalit as a gesture  of goodwill (oh, gee, thanks since he soooo wanted a vacation to Gaza in the first place…).

Now, BBC reports that the first recording of Schalit has been released, demonstrating he is alive, though apparently in deteriorating health.   Full text of the message, which was no doubt dictated by his Hamas captors is here.   A video of his abduction was also released and is here.
