Random thoughts and Shavuous

Posted on Tuesday 25 May 2004

I’m still recovering from the Cleveland simcha and preparing for the UJC Hadesh West conference next week (for a peek at the lineup, click here). I’ll post more about the simcha and associated activities on my personal blog, adamrdavis, for all those who care about my personal life.

ZMAN SIMCHASENU! In other news, its Shavuous tonight, a time of great rejoicing for the gift of Torah at Sinai.

“I give you these fifteen er- TEN Commandments!”
Thank you Mel Brooks.

Apparently we were all there at Sinai when it happened, so the next couple days are essenially a big reunion. You may say that with this logic its a little “been there done that,” but this is a holiday proscribing the consumption of dairy products, and traditional oferings include blintzes and cheesecake. Who could posibly say no to that? So be yotze, go to a shul and eat cheesecake, wait half an hour (to be safe) then sit down for a steak seudah. Then stay up all night and study Torah. Hmm. This is beginning to sound like the simcha all over again!
